Term Sport Cancelled

As a College community we continue to remain vigilant regarding the spread of COVID 19 Coronavirus and the potential impact this may have upon the continuation of sporting activities during Term 1.

Following the direction of Principals from SATIS schools and endorsement of the College Board and Leadership, please be advised that all SVC sport participation has been suspended for the remainder of Term 1, effective immediately.

Specifically for St Virgil’s College, this includes all teams and individuals associated with SATIS and non-SATIS events, rosters and training, including but not limited to:

  • Rowing training and Head of the River.
  • SATIS Swimming Carnival.
  • SSATIS Basketball: Grades 7-10.
  • SSATIS AFL: Grades 7-10.
  • Cricket: Grades 7-10.
  • Sailing – Training and School Series.
  • Mountain Bike Training.
  • Touch Football School Series.
  • Tennis Development: Grades 7-10
  • Water Polo Training: Grade 7-10
  • EREA Football (Soccer) Tournament.

Further advice will be provided when available regarding when training and rosters can recommence or rescheduled for later in the year.

In the coming weeks, Term 2 Sport registrations will be available for Water Polo, Cross Country, Hockey, Rugby, Squash, Badminton and MTB X-Country. We encourage all boys to register for these as per normal. As the current situation is very fluid and ever changing, advice on participation in these sports during Term 2 will be provided once known.

In these very challenging and unprecedented times, we trust you understand these measures have been put in place to minimise the spread of the virus and to protect both our school community and the most vulnerable in the wider community.

As a Catholic community we continue to pray for all impacted by the illness and those who care for them.
