All boys that register will be transported to the Rowing Centre from Austins Ferry by bus at the conclusion of lunch. Parents are to collect the boys from the Rowing Centre.

Who should try rowing?

  • Any one! The sport welcomes all students, whatever their weight, height, or athletic ability.
  • No prior experience is required.
  • The ideal rower is someone who enjoys being fit and active and is strong.

Why should you try rowing?

  • Rowing gets you fit, it builds muscle, it develops character and discipline and helps you make lifelong friendships.
  • Rowing is a summer sport and is a perfect complement to sports like football.
  • It will develop your strength, fitness, coordination and help improve your performance in other sports.

You are interested in rowing but don’t not want to do the early mornings?

  • Rowing only requires 1-2 early mornings a week, depending on the age group.
  • A large portion of the training in conducted in the gym in the afternoons or during weekends.
  • Not being able to attend morning sessions before school should not stop you from trying the sport.
  • Attendance of morning sessions can be negotiated with the Director of Rowing, Oliver Wilson-Haffenden.
